Beach Towel Sets Money Record

Beach Towel became the first harness horse to win $2 million in one season Friday night when he won the featured Breeders Crown 3-year-old Colt and Gelding race at Pompano Beach, Fla. The three-length victory earned Beach Towel $183,466 to boost his 1990 earnings to $2,091,860.
In the night’s biggest upset, Bay’s Fellow defeated favored Topnotcher in the Horse and Gelding Pace and returned a payoff of $140.60, largest in the seven-years of the Breeders Crown. Dare You To, runner-up in the American Pacing Classic at Los Alamitos, finished out of the money.
