Newbury Park 9, Channel Islands 6--Junior quarterback Zack Sutton threw a 63-yard pass to Jason Smith in the third quarter and host Newbury Park (2-7, 1-5) twice stopped Channel Islands inside its own 10-yard line in the second half to preserve the win.

Sutton and Smith teamed on the fourth play of the second half for the game-winning score. Sutton completed 11 of 20 for 175 yards.

Channel Islands scored in the second period when Renard Carn plunged for a one-yard touchdown, but Jon Obringer blocked the extra-point attempt. Carn rushed for 106 yards in 19 carries.
