Fann a Finalist for Harlon Hill Football Award
Tailback Albert Fann of Cal State Northridge is one of nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Trophy, Division II football’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, it was announced Monday.
Fann, who ranks fifth in college football history with 7,032 all-purpose yards, was joined on the final ballot by quarterback Jeff Frost of Northeast Missouri State, quarterback David Gulledge of Jacksonville (Ala.) State, receiver Andrew Jai Hill of Indiana, Pa., running back David Jones of Chadron (Neb.) State, fullback Eric Lynch of Grand Valley (Mich.) State, running back Fred McAfee of Mississippi College, receiver Ernie Priester of Edinboro, Pa., and quarterback Chris Simdorn of North Dakota State.
Fann rushed for 998 yards and scored 10 touchdowns this season and led CSUN with 28 receptions. Simdorn, the favorite to win the trophy, has rushed for 776 yards and 17 touchdowns and passed for 821 yards and nine touchdowns.
The fifth annual award, named in honor of former North Alabama and Chicago Bears receiver Harlon Hill, will be presented in Sheffield, Ala., at a banquet Dec. 7, the eve of the Division II championship game. Sports information directors from Division II schools vote on the award.
