Cards Donated to 2 Detention Units
More than 5,000 unused Christmas cards have been donated this season to youth detention facilities in Chino and Whittier by members of several Southland churches.
Charles Richey, who began the program in 1987, said that donating greeting cards to inmates encourages them to keep in touch with family and friends.
Cards are also being collected by Church Growth Investors in Glendora for women inmates at the California Institution for Women in Frontera, Richey said.
