CONEJO VALLEY : School Board Names Newman President
Richard Newman, a retired police lieutenant who counsels Oak Park students, was elected president of the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education on Thursday.
Newman, 62, has served on the school board for one year, after seven years on the board of directors of the Conejo Recreation and Park District. Newman is a counselor at two schools in the Oak Park Unified School District and volunteers at Sequoia Intermediate School in Newbury Park.
“I’m concerned with the lack of funds to schools. It’s going to be a real challenge to maintain the programs and some changes will have to be made,” said Newman, who replaces Dorothy Beaubien.
In addition, board member Bill Henry was chosen board vice president and board member Delores Didio was elected clerk.
