LA HABRA : Man With Multiple Sclerosis Drowns
A 31-year-old La Habra man with multiple sclerosis drowned Friday in his bathtub, police said.
The victim, Jeffrey Dale Irwin, was found by an apartment manager who was investigating the sound of running water, police said. The manager entered the apartment and found Irwin underwater, police said.
Paramedics were called to the apartment complex in the 800 block of West La Habra Boulevard, and they pronounced Irwin dead at the scene about noon.
Irwin apparently had recently been diagnosed as suffering from multiple sclerosis, a brain or spinal disease, which affects muscle control. He was being treated by doctors at UCLA Medical Center and was in the process of moving to a nursing home, police said.
Police said Irwin may have fallen into the bathtub and was unable to pull himself out.
