NATIONAL WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Louisiana Tech Falls to Nevada Las Vegas
Sheila Ethridge scored 38 points but No. 6-ranked Louisiana Tech lost its second straight Monday 84-77 to No. 14 University of Las Vegas Nevada at Las Vegas.
A rebound basket by Ethridge with 8:56 to play rallied Louisiana Tech to a 57-57 tie but UNLV ran up eight points on two free throws by Tasha Bradley and Sharon Hargrove, a baseline drive by Vicki Lander and a basket underneath by Hargrove.
Louisiana Tech only came within six points the remainder of the game.
Hargrove finished with 21 points, Bradley 16, Lander and Merlelynn Lange each with 12. Bradley also had 14 rebounds and Lange added 12.
Louisiana Tech (3-2) had less balance in its offense. Ethridge, who pulled down 12 rebounds, and Annie Lockett, who had 22 points, were led the team but no other player scored in double figures.
Undefeated UNLV (5-0) took the lead midway through the first half, pushing the margin to as much as 10 and leading 39-35 at the half.
