MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO, Italy — Norway’s Ole Christian Furuseth recorded his first World Cup skiing victory of the season today in the slalom as his rival, Alberto Tomba, dropped out in the second heat.
Furuseth, 23, finished with a two-run time of 1 minute, 37.96 seconds. It was 2.08 seconds ahead of Tomas Fogdoe of Sweden.
Tomba nearly fell soon after clocking a fast intermediate time and missed a gate.
