Daniel P. Kagel; Retired MCA Executive
Daniel P. Kagel, a retired executive for MCA Inc., has died in a Van Nuys convalescent home. He was 73.
Kagel, a longtime resident of Encino, died Wednesday of cancer, said David Kagel, a son.
Daniel Kagel was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Petaluma, Calif. He began working for MCA in 1939 and was the company’s director of administration of advertising, publicity and promotion when he retired in 1986.
He had been serving as vice president of the Valley-based Hope-Mates chapter, which is affiliated with the City of Hope.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rosalind Kagel; sons, David Kagel of Sherman Oaks and Douglas Kagel of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Bertha Handin of San Francisco, and three grandchildren.
A funeral, with burial to follow, is scheduled at 3 p.m. today at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills. Kapin Mortuary in San Fernando is handling the arrangements.
Donations can be made in Kagel’s name to the City of Hope.
