Woman Tells of Rape, Slaying by 2 Gunmen
Two gunmen approached a couple in a car parked in Mission Hills early Christmas Day, shot the man to death and raped his woman companion, the woman told Los Angeles police.
A passerby noticed the body of Elmer Rudy Alvarado, 26, of Highland Park slumped in the front seat of a car on Tupper Street near Lemona Avenue on Tuesday morning, police said.
“He had been shot at least once in the upper portion of his body,” Officer Marlene Johnson said.
A woman contacted police shortly after the body was found and said she had been sitting in the car with Alvarado when two men approached and shot him. She said the gunmen then forced her to go to a vacant lot in Mission Hills and raped her, Johnson said.
The woman was hospitalized in good condition, police said.
No other details of the incident were available, Johnson said.
