World IN BRIEF : PHILIPPINES : Coup Leader Vows Another Effort

A fugitive coup leader vowed that mutinous soldiers would “vigorously pursue” their quest to oust Philippine President Corazon Aquino. Col. Gregorio Honasan’s warning came four days after government troops foiled a rebel attempt to blow up fighter jets at an air base as a signal for a seventh attempt to bring down Aquino. Honasan was a key figure in a December, 1989, coup attempt.
