2 Newborns Are Found Dead in Trash Can
Two newborn babies were found dead in a trash can outside an apartment building in South Los Angeles, and investigators Monday were searching for the mother and awaiting autopsy results.
“At this point we don’t even know if they were born alive,” said Detective Joan Wolf of the Police Department’s Abused Child Unit.
She said autopsies likely would not be done until Friday.
Wolf said police were presuming that the babies had the same mother, although police have been unable to find her.
The newborns were found dead by an apartment manager about 5 p.m. Tuesday in a trash can outside apartments at 125 W. 46th St.
