Bass Bite at Perris Despite Cold

The trend is to fish for trout in colder weather, but there are still largemouth bass to be caught at Lake Perris, with the right technique.

Marina Manager Bruce VanVort said Wednesday that successful anglers have been working near the west side of the marina, jigging with shad off the bottom at 30 feet.

But among the most successful has been Bruce Bringhurst of Moreno Valley, a regular who landed an 8 3/4-pound bass, using green worms on the back side of the island.

“He’s my barometer,” VanVort said. “If there are bass in there, he’ll be catching them.”
