Mar Vista Coach, Assistants Quit
Sam Coe, football coach at Mar Vista High, and his assistants have resigned.
Mar Vista went 1-7 before forfeiting its last two games because there weren’t enough players to field a team after many became academically ineligible.
Pat O’Neill, Mar Vista’s athletic director, said the trouble at the end of the season was the deciding factor in Coe’s resignation.
O’Neill, however, stressed Coe was not to blame for the academic problems.
“No, no, certainly not,” he said. “But unfortunately resigning is going to make it look like that.”
