Dave Hartman of Canyon High, who finished third in the Kinney national cross-country championships last month, will take a recruiting trip to the University of Arizona beginning Friday. He also is planning a visit to Wisconsin.

Hartman has been contacted by North Carolina State, Nebraska, UCLA and Oregon, but he is unsure whether he will make trips to any of those schools.

“Oregon (a traditional long-distance power) would be interesting,” said Hartman, who will run in the mile at the Sunkist Invitational at the Sports Arena on Jan. 18 and in the U. S. World Junior (age 19 and under) cross-country trials in Tallahassee, Fla., Feb. 2, “but I’m not sure if they have that much (scholarship) money to toss around.”
