The City Council unanimously approved a resolution permitting the addition of an outdoor patio with seating for 12 at Jim’s Burgers, 10904 Rush St.

“What we have here is a success story,” Mayor Stan Quintana said.

Letters from a number of people who live or work nearby praised the fast-food establishment but several mentioned that it quickly becomes crowded inside at lunch hour. One letter with more than 50 signatures attached backing the addition came from the Zacky Farms plant nearby.

It was also noted that Jim’s served more than 700 free meals to the needy at Thanksgiving.
