Defense Spending in Reagan Years
This article should have been titled “Legacy of the Success in the Destruction of the Totalitarian Systems Throughout Eastern Europe and Russia.”
When a Russian general stated that he would like to meet the man responsible for perestroika , the man he wanted to meet was President Reagan. The reason why we have seen the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe is because of the $2 trillion, which, by the way, employed hundreds of thousands of Americans. Other technologies were advanced by the discoveries made with these dollars.
This nation’s defenses were built up to such a level that the communist nations simply gave up. The potential of world war no longer exists in real terms. Was it worth $2 trillion? You bet!
