CAMARILLO : Farmers Market to Open March 2
An open-air farmers market is scheduled to open in Camarillo next month.
Growers must obtain a certificate from the county showing that the produce is grown locally and is fresh, said John Willits, chairman of the Farmers Market Committee.
Produce of various kinds, including lemons, lettuce, strawberries, cauliflower, flowers and broccoli, are expected to be sold in the parking lot at 2220 Ventura Blvd.
The market will be sponsored by two local nonprofit agencies, Camarillo Hospice and the Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
Five percent of each grower’s profits will go to the agencies, Willits said.
The market will open March 2 and be held every Saturday thereafter from 8:30 a.m. to noon, he said.
There are 50 spaces for growers. Willits said growers can contact him at 484-9340 or Joyce Schroeder at 987-5243 for reservations.
