The Cal State Northridge baseball team started fast but lacked a finishing kick Sunday in a 10-4 nonconference loss to host Nevada Las Vegas.
The Matadors jumped to a three-run lead after 1 1/2 innings but UNLV scored seven runs in its next three at-bats to clinch the victory at Barnson Field.

Cerio and Lino Diaz added RBI singles with two out in the third to give UNLV the lead for good, 5-3.
Cerio’s hit scored Lee Reiber, who reached base on a fielder’s choice and moved to second when Eggert walked Ricky Scruggs. Diaz’s single scored Scruggs.
Northridge escaped further damage in the inning when Eggert, who fell to 1-1, picked Cerio off at second.
