Paying for War and Peace in Persian Gulf
President Bush’s decision to finance the war is absurd, cynical and very dangerous. Asking our young people to fight this war and then come back and pay interest on it for the rest of their lives is unfair and immoral. Why should the American taxpayer be allowed to sit at home watching this war without sharing the cost of it? It is our problem and we should pay for it as we go. Long-term financing is an unnecessary political cop-out. The public is willing to share the burden of this heinous conflict.
