A Mother’s Rebuke

I can hardly describe what a bittersweet experience it was to read the paper today. I read with pleasure the humorous article my daughter, B. J. Hateley, wrote: “Would-Be Beach Dweller Suffers Seller’s Remorse” (Feb. 17). At the same time, I saw this terrible picture, which I would hardly recognize as my daughter at all!

I know that The Times prides itself on accuracy in reporting. I would hope that it takes the same pride in its photography. I know that cameras make people look 10 pounds heavier, but this is ridiculous!
