A Chula Vista man was killed early Wednesday when he drove into the rear of a parked semi-trailer truck in the Miramar area, authorities said.
Michael Joseph O’Neil, 39, was driving a small convertible in the 7700 block of Trade Street when he hit the truck shortly after 5 a.m., San Diego police spokesman Sgt. Mike Healey said. O’Neil was traveling about 40 m.p.h.
O’Neil died on impact, according to John Armendariz, an investigator with the medical examiner’s office. He leaves behind a wife. The truck was loaded with coffins, Healey said.
