UCSD Offers Advance Ticket Sales for Playoff
UC San Diego, playing host to its first NCAA Division III men’s basketball playoff game, announced Wednesday that advance tickets for Saturday’s game against Claremont will go on sale starting Friday.
Tickets, all $3, go on sale between noon and 5 p.m. at Canyonview Athletics and Recreation building and will be sold at Triton Gym on the day of the game, which begins at 7 p.m.
UCSD has sold out several of the NCAA regional and national competitions it has hosted on the day of the event. The university is expecting a sellout for this game and wanted to give fans a chance to buy tickets in advance.
Triton Gym has a 2,200 capacity for basketball, but press and band accomodations have decreased seat availability. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Point Loma Nazarene defeated Biola, 84-71, to advance to tonight’s NAIA District 3 championship game at Biola.
The winner of tonight’s game between PLNC (23-7) and Fresno Pacific (16-12) will advance to the nationals in Jackson, Tenn., next week.

The Chargers have signed free agent safety George Radachowsky, the team’s first free agent signee of the year.
Radachowsky, 6-feet, 195 pounds, has played six NHL seasons, the last three with the New York Jets. In 1989, he started 13 games for the Jets at strong safety and was released during the Jets 1990 training camp.
He came to the NHL as a seventh-round draft selection of the Rams in 1984, and was traded to Indianapolis before the 1984 season. Radachowsky played 19 games for the Colts (1984-85) before being released during the 1986 training camp. He was signed as a free agent by the Jets in 1987, where he played for three seasons. Grossmont let an early lead slip, then couldn’t come back, as it fell to host College of the Canyons, 100-75, in the second round of the Community College California South Regional Championships at Valencia.
Valhalla graduate Rafid Kiti was 13 of 23 from the field for Grossmont (15-13), had a game-high 32 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Teammate Tim Barry had 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Canyons (21-12), led by Reggie Bell’s 17 points, has won a school record 11 in a row.
