Anheuser-Busch Cos. and the National Brewery Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said a new three-year labor contract was ratified Friday.

The pact affects 9,000 production and maintenance employees, including more than 800 of the 1,500 workers at the Van Nuys brewery.

The St. Louis-based company is the nation’s largest brewer of beer; its Van Nuys brewery is one of 12 the company operates.

The new contract provides for a salary increase of 75 cents an hour, or about 4%, during the first year of the contract, with 50-cent-an-hour raises during the second and third years. The average hourly wage for Anheuser-Busch’s production and maintenance workers is now $17.91.

The company said the pact also includes provisions aimed at increasing productivity at various plants and offsetting the rapid rise in costs of medical benefits, including larger deductibles on health-care plans.

The contract will expire Feb. 28, 1994.
