Gunfire Outside Popular Club Kills 1, Wounds 4
Gunfire erupted outside a popular Marina del Rey nightspot late Friday night, killing one man and injuring four others, two critically.
Police said the shooting outside TGI Fridays began about 11:10 p.m. after several men began fighting in the restaurant’s parking lot at 13470 Maxella Ave.
Lavell L. Hughes, 24, of Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Ronald Colquitt said. Two other men involved in the fighting, whose names were not released, were taken to Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital and later transferred to other hospitals, where they were listed in critical condition.
Colquitt said he did not know whether Hughes was one of the men involved in the initial fight, or how many people were using guns during the confrontation.
A man and woman trying to flee the chaos were struck by stray bullet fragments, Colquitt said. They were treated and released at a local hospital.
