Bruce McNall thrives on his image as a free spender. But how can a man who spends millions on Wayne Gretzky, a half-million on a baseball card and attempts to spend millions more to obtain Rocket Ismail be so petty when dealing with Tom Laidlaw?
Here is a man whose career was ended in Mr. McNall’s service and who now finds himself trying to keep the relatively small salary he was promised.
If Bruce McNall ever expects to be the wonderful and fun-loving owner that his image projects, maybe he will learn to treat all of his players more like people and less like simple commodities.
