An Eastside slumlord who spent time in jail four years ago for failing to repair a Boyle Heights residential hotel was charged Thursday with new code violations at the same complex.

Salvador M. Quesada, 56, of the Los Feliz district, is charged with 17 misdemeanor violations of the city’s health, fire and building and safety codes for alleged conditions at the Vinograd Hotel at 2107 E. Brooklyn Ave.

“Quesada finally brought the hotel up to code in late 1987 after almost two years of resisting orders by both city Housing Enforcement Task Force inspectors and the court,” said City Atty. James K. Hahn. “But the building began to slip back into disrepair last year, and he is repeating his earlier conduct by again refusing to make repairs,” Hahn said.

In September, 1987, Los Angeles Municipal Judge Larry Fidler sentenced Quesada to six months in jail for refusing to meet repair deadlines.
