Orlando to Play Baseball at Irvine
Vinnie Orlando of Notre Dame High has accepted a partial scholarship to play baseball at UC Irvine, according to his father.
The Knights’ second baseman chose the Big West Conference school after making recruiting trips to UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola-Marymount and the University of San Diego.
At the start of the week, Orlando was batting .319 (15 for 47) with 11 runs batted in and a team-high 12 stolen bases. As a sophomore and junior he hit .362 (71 for 196) with 60 RBIs, seven home runs and 34 stolen bases.
