Anaheim Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting
An Anaheim man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Park last year was found in Texas last week and sent back to Orange County for arraignment and a possible trial, authorities said Monday.
Chau Van Phung, 35, was arrested in Houston after sheriff’s investigators received information leading them to believe that he had fled to Texas after the shooting that killed one man and seriously injured another, Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
The Sept. 8 attack reportedly involved five armed men who shot Hoa Le, 34, of Los Angeles and Ngoc Lee Phung, 26, of Anaheim. Le died in the incident, which Olson said was not gang-related.
Olson declined to state what led authorities to believe that Phung had escaped to Texas.
Investigators are continuing the search for Hoang Xuan Nguyen, 23, Phong (Paul) Chuhang Phan, 19, and Hao Day Thai, 25, all of Anaheim.
