Soviets Thwart Attempt to Hijack Jet to Iceland

MOSCOW — Soviet security officers disarmed a hijacker at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport on Monday after he tried to divert an airliner to Iceland, Tass reported.
The official news agency said the hijacker, a 30-year-old man from Siberia, demanded that the jet be refueled and flown to Hamburg and then Reykjavik, Iceland.
Security forces moved in when the plane, on the way from Siberia to Moscow, taxied to refuel.
