Alhambra : No Spray Paint for Minors
In an effort to cut down on a growing graffiti problem, the City Council Monday made it illegal for stores to sell spray paint to minors.
The ordinance, adopted unanimously, also requires stores to keep spray paint locked and to post signs saying it is illegal to sell spray paint to minors.
According to a report by Vangie Schock, assistant to the city manager, incidents of graffiti increased 11% in 1990. The city, she wrote, had to pay the San Gabriel Valley Boys Club $57,424 last year to remove graffiti at 5,559 locations.
