Rally Seeks Reinstatement of Diamond Bar Principal
About 55 supporters of embattled Lorbeer Junior High School Principal Jack Housen rallied in front of Pomona Unified School District headquarters Tuesday night to demand that the principal be reinstated.
Bearing signs that said, “The board must go,” and “Housen must stay,” the demonstrators, mainly parents with children at the Diamond Bar school, said they would vote Pomona school board members out of office in the fall election unless Housen is allowed to stay. No school board members or administrators met with the parents.
In February, the school board voted to reassign Housen to a classroom next fall. Housen has 25 years experience as an administrator in the district. Board members said Housen, a strict disciplinarian, is not a team player.
But Pomona and Diamond Bar parents, who said they plan to plead their case at next Tuesday’s school board meeting, accused the district of playing politics and not caring about their children’s education.
