Escondido
Escondido police have identified the body of a migrant worker who was found Sunday floating in a flood channel near Interstate 15.
Eduardo Miguel Gonzalo, 22, had been stabbed repeatedly in the face, back and legs. He apparently had been involved in a quarrel over a woman staying at a migrant camp located underneath the freeway, according to Detective Ralph Claytor.
Gonzalo reportedly had been stabbed about 3 a.m. but his body was not discovered until later that afternoon in a portion of the flood channel that runs between Valley Parkway and the California 78 interchange along I-15.
A second migrant worker, suspected in the slaying, remains at large, police said.
