Mark Keppel Students Defend Reputation
We are students at Mark Keppel High School going on our senior year. We were amazed to see the photograph of our campus (Times, May 5). We got into the subject. We felt the need to get facts on the crime rate (burglary) around our campus. We then decided to see a member of the Monterey Park Police Department, who pulled out a file with maps and charts of the 1.5-square-mile area of burglaries.
Only two out of 15 burglaries (during March) were during Mark Keppel’s lunch hour. We also learned that the most burglaries were on Mondays and Saturdays. So we feel as a class that we have learned more than that article.
