Parks, Whitlock to Head County All-Star Team
All-American center Cherokee Parks of Marina High School and scoring champion Tes Whitlock of Loara head the list of selections for the Orange County all-star team that will meet the Santa Barbara all-stars in the Santa Barbara Vacation Classic on June 15, at San Marcos High.
Parks averaged 28.8 points and 14.4 rebounds per game as a senior and was twice named The Times’ county player of the year. He has signed with Duke.
Whitlock broke an 80-year-old county record when he scored 68 points against Saddleback in the Irvine World News Tournament. Whitlock has signed with Arizona State.
Paul Hoover will coach the county team and Bob Purdy of Santa Barbara will coach the opposing team.
