Rates Rise on New 1-Year T-Bills: The Treasury reported that the average discount rate was 5.73%, up from 5.71% at the last auction May 2. It was the highest rate since 52-week bills averaged 5.88% on April 4. The bills will carry an equivalent coupon interest rate of 6.09%, with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,420.60. Sales totaled $12.27 billion out of bids of $31.56 billion.
