Passenger Killed in Canyon Country Crash
A 32-year-old Lancaster man was killed when the car he was a passenger in crashed along the Antelope Valley Freeway in Canyon Country, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
The driver, Bryan Josh McKim, 32, of Lancaster, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol at Palmdale Medical Center, where he was treated for minor lacerations, CHP spokesman Miguel Siordia said.
Passenger Niels Mygind was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 9 a.m. Tuesday near the Soledad Canyon Road exit, CHP spokesman Robert Nuckles said.
The driver lost control of the car, which appeared to be traveling about 75 m.p.h., hit the center divider and overturned twice, Siordia said.
“No other car appears to be involved,” Nuckles said.
