Whether you prefer to walk, run, ride a bicycle or use Rollerblades, it’s not too late to enter--or contribute money to--Sunday’s fifth annual AIDS Walk Orange County.

Organizer Cathy Winthrop says people can sign up until the moment that the 10K walk actually begins, at 10 a.m. at Mason Park in Irvine, on University Drive between Culver Drive and Harvard Avenue. Check in starts at 8 a.m.

There is no entry fee. Participants are asked to find sponsors who will contribute money for each kilometer the participant completes. Entrants may find sponsors before the walk or after the walk, or simply may sponsor themselves. All proceeds will go toward AIDS research, education and patient care in Orange County.

To enter before Sunday, or simply to make a contribution, call (714) 645-6300. Checks made out to AIDS Walk Orange County can be mailed to P.O. Box 26484, Santa Ana 92799.

During and after the walk, there’ll be a bring-your-own picnic lunch at Mason Park (refrigeration will be available) with music, clowns, jugglers and drawings for prizes.

About 1,800 took part in last year’s AIDS Walk, raising $330,000. This year, 2,000 are expected.
