Chris Donnels Is Recalled by Mets

Chris Donnels, a former South Torrance High and Loyola Marymount infield standout, has been recalled by the New York Mets for the second time this season.

Donnels, 25, was promoted from the Tidewater Tides of the triple-A International League after the Mets placed infielder Keith Miller on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 27 following the Mets 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night. Miller twisted his right ankle in a game May 26 against St. Louis at Shea Stadium.

In his return to the Mets, Donnels walked as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday’s 11-10 loss to the Reds.

Donnels was with the Mets from May 5-20, appearing in six games and starting four times at third base and batting .250 with a double and three runs batted in. He batted .322 for Tidewater in 32 games.
