Sohegian Player of Year in 2-A Volleyball
Aaron Sohegian, who led Whittier Christian High School’s volleyball team to the Southern Section 2-A championship, has been named the section’s 2-A player of the year.
Sohegian, a 6-foot-5 senior outside hitter, had 14 kills in the Heralds’ four-game victory over Calvary Chapel in the championship game.
Four Orange County players made the Division 4-A first team, including Huntington Beach’s Matt Taylor, The Times’ Orange County player of the year.
County players who made the Southern Section teams:
Division 4-A
First team--Todd Beebe (Woodbridge), Russell Gan (Newport Harbor), Greg Gratteau (Marina), Matt Taylor (Huntington Beach).
Second team--Justin McIntee (Newport Harbor), Eric Olson (Capistrano Valley), Ryan Rauch (Woodbridge), Chris Swanner (Irvine), Dennis Winners (Marina).
Third team--Zolti Csanyi (University), Andy Kijewski (Huntington Beach), Joe McCarthy (Edison), Beau Sheward (Newport Harbor).
Division 3-A
Second team--Chris Pitzak (Esperanza).
Third team--Brad Goldston (Esperanza).
Division 2-A
MVP--Aaron Sohegian (Whittier Christian).
First team--Brandon Blevins (Whittier Christian), Troy Biehl (Whittier Christian), Adam McIlhenny (Whittier Christian), Christian Kingery (Calvary Chapel), Dan Neumann (Calvary Chapel).
Second team--Aaron Forrister (Whittier Christian), Mike Hernandez (Calvary Chapel), Adam Keife (Whittier Christian), Tim Nelson (Calvary Chapel).
