Pasadena : Water Rates to Increase
Water rates will increase automatically to absorb higher costs from the Metropolitan Water District under an ordinance approved Tuesday by the City Council.
Pasadena buys about 70% of its water from the MWD. The ordinance will allow the city to increase rates to meet a 13.5% increase, amounting to $579,491 during this fiscal year.
The increase will affect only water users consuming large amounts. Their rates will increase by 7 cents per each 100 cubic feet (748 gallons) of water consumed beyond certain amounts set by the size of their pipes.
The average residential customer using less than 11,220 gallons of water monthly will not be affected.
