Couple Suspected in 100 Burglaries
Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man and woman who investigators say may have committed up to 100 residential and vehicle burglaries during the last month on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and San Pedro.
Eric R. Rouse, 27, and his girlfriend, Charlene Hathaway, 23, both of San Pedro, were booked on suspicion of burglary after deputies stopped their car in Rancho Palos Verdes early Thursday morning, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Smith said. Stereos and other items believed to have been stolen from area garages and vehicles were found in the car, he said.
Smith said deputies assigned to the Burglary Apprehension Team placed the couple under surveillance Tuesday after receiving a tip from an informant. Investigators say they have positively linked the couple to 27 burglaries but believe that they may have committed up to 100, he said.
