So you think the Hollywood crowd always has the inside scoop on things? Not so. Melanie Mayron recently revealed that she heard about the demise of “thirtysomething” by picking up a newspaper and reading about it. “It was very depressing,” said Mayron, who played Melissa, the quirky, single-girl photographer. “I’ve been a loyal fan of that show. I watched it every Tuesday night. I don’t know what I’m going to do with my Tuesday nights now, let alone how to pay the bills.” Does that mean she also doesn’t know if her own spinoff show has gotten the green light? “Not that I know of. No one’s come to me with anything. I might just have to develop it myself and see if anyone wants to buy it.”

There’s no such thing as bad publicity, but still. . . . At a recent premiere loaded with eager media, a publicist, who represented no less than three non-verbal celebrity clients on the scene, commented: “I can line ‘em up, but I can’t make ‘em dance.”
