The San Diego Convention Center’s board of directors has hired a search firm to help it find a general manager to replace Tom Liegler, who resigned in April after allegations that he used the Convention Center for parties that included his family and friends.

The board hired Russell Reynolds Associates, which will take about two months to come up with a list of four to six candidates for the board to choose from.

Among the duties involved in the $120,000-a-year general manager’s job are overseeing the operation of the 760,000-square-foot center as well as bringing in new business and promoting the center.

Twelve search firms applied for the job.

Liegler had been in charge of the convention center from 1985 until his resignation. He had previously been the head of the Anaheim Convention Center, where he had worked for 20 years. Liegler’s assistant Joe Davis has been in charge since Liegler’s departure.
