Rushing to ‘Judgment’: American moviegoers waited for Arnold (The Terminator) Schwarzenegger to come back as promised, and when he did, so did they. “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” grabbed an estimated $12 million on opening day Wednesday on 2,274 screens. Combined with sneak showings Tuesday night on 1,378 screens, the Tri-Star release raked in an average of $5,285 per screen. That would make it the biggest Wednesday opener to date. “Batman,” which opened on a Friday--June 23, 1989--holds the first-day box-office record with receipts of $15.3 million. So far, this summer’s biggest three-day opening has been “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” which took in $25.6 million its first weekend and $8.3 million its first day. Official figures for “T2’s” five-day holiday opening weekend will be released on Monday.
