Irvine’s Severin Wunderman Museum will present its third Jean Cocteau International Style Award tonight to Gian Carlo Menotti, founder of the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy. The presentation will be made at the festival, after the premiere of Menotti’s new staging of Mozart’s early intermezzo “Apollo et Hyacinthus.” The award honors the composer’s “diversity of talent and fidelity to a vision.” Menotti will be 80 on Sunday.
