The American Legion District 20 All-Star Game, showcasing the best players from 27 teams in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys, will be held today at 1 p.m. at Birmingham High.

Players from Northern and Western division teams will play for the West and those from Southern and Eastern division teams will play for the East. There are 25 players on each team.

Players were selected Monday by coaches who used a weighted scale whereby teams with the best district record were allowed the most representatives in the game.

Chatsworth, the Western Division champion, will send five players to the game, the most of any team. Chatsworth will be represented by outfielders Billy Blair and Doug Dean, infielder-catchers Nestor Martinez and Adam Pearlman, and pitcher Danny Rodriguez. Blair entered last week’s play with the highest batting average (.535) among district players and Dean (.513) ranks second.

Sepulveda, a first-year team and the Southern Division leader, will be represented by infielders Andy Shaw and Justin Bass, outfielder Brad Fullmer and pitcher Russell Ortiz.

Fullmer, who will be a junior in the fall at Montclair Prep, ranks among district leaders in nearly every statistical category. He has eight doubles, 23 runs batted in and an average of .491.
