Reaching Out: Music Center Opera is expanding its community programs, fueled by a $60,000 challenge grant from the California Arts Council. The company has formed a 10-member community action committee and this summer will start presenting short recitals developed for multicultural audiences in locations as diverse as MacArthur Park and the Glendale Galleria. The first will be Aug. 4 on the Santa Monica Pier.
