Santa Clarita Planner Tenders Resignation
Santa Clarita Planning Commissioner Rita Garasi resigned Monday after serving 3 1/2 years.
Garasi, 50, who was appointed by City Councilman Buck McKeon in 1988, said she was leaving the five-member panel for personal reasons, but declined to elaborate.
“I’m very proud of this city--it was just a good time to leave,” Garasi said.
Garasi helped the city to incorporate 3 1/2 years ago and has served on the commission ever since. She said she was heartened to see the City Council last month adopt a state-mandated development plan that was extensively reviewed by the commission.
“You hear chest-thumping and ranting, but this city has accomplished a great deal, and I’m proud of it,” she said.
The council will appoint a replacement for Garasi as soon as possible, officials said.
