Tracinda Bids for the Desert Inn: The Los Angeles company controlled by Las Vegas investor Kirk Kerkorian bid $130 million for the hotel/casino--apparently the only one of eight bids to meet the terms set forth by owner MGM Grand Inc. A committee of MGM’s board and officials of the investment banking firm Bear, Stearns & Co. are reviewing the other seven proposals to determine whether any of them can conform to the bid criteria. A decision is expected next week.
